Welcome to muskturtle.co.uk, this website has been created to share my experiences with this fascinating group of turtles from the Sternotherus genus.
The aim of this site is to educate anybody wanting to begin keeping these creatures, we will discuss various housing, feeding and husbandry needs.
Keeping chelonia in the home has always been popular, unfortunatley the species often sold in pet stores are not suitable for keeping in the home, many of the species sold require very large enclosures, more often than not indoor and/or outdoor ponds, which are impractical. The species which will be discussed on this website are more suited to being kept in the home. We will discover why and explain some of the care requirements these turtles need.
If you are considering keeping sliders please read these caresheets before coming to any decision. To read these caresheets please follow these links:

Musk turtles have become increasingly popular amongst cheloniaphiles, not only because of their diminutive size (well, for some species) but because of their endearing characters. Below are some images of the species that this website will be delving into.
From the small Stripe neck musk, to the enormous Mexican musk. From one with a high peaked shell to one sometimes described as a vampire...
